Austin Fertility Acupuncture
& Lifelong Women’s Health

At 512Wellness, we are passionate about supporting and empowering today’s woman through the various stages of reproductive health — from the teen and child-bearing years to menopause.

Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs are especially well suited to support women’s wellness. Traditional Chinese Medicine teaches us that healing begins from within, and that nagging symptoms indicate a deeper imbalance in heath. By looking at the individual person, we are able to custom tailor a treatment plan to help create a healthier, more vibrant you.

512Wellness has developed a series of treatment modules that focus on the major phases of a woman’s life: BeWell TeenSM, BeWell FertilitySM, BeWell PregnancySM, BeWell WomanSM, and BeWell PrimeSM. To address the particular needs of men’s reproductive health, we have also created the BeWell ManSM wellness module. Click on the topics below to learn more.

BeWell Fertility

Austin Fertility Acupuncture Specialist

Ann Mowat has long focused her practice on the special health issues of women. To supplement her formal education, she studied with the nation’s leading acupuncture fertility expert, Dr.Randine Lewis, author of The Infertility Cure. Ann puts this in-depth training to work to maximize your chances of conception.

Preparing for Conception

The best time to begin thinking about getting pregnant is actually before you want to get pregnant. At 512Wellness, we have created a three month fertility wellness program that helps prepare your body for pregnancy. By utilizing weekly acupuncture, individualized Chinese herbal formulations, basal body temperature charting, and nutrition consultations, we work to get the best foundation possible for pregnancy.

Today’s high stress, busy lifestyle affects reproductive health. Our program, helps to calm and create a more welcoming environment for conception. During this three month time, we’ll educate you on your cycle health, rebalance any cycle related issues, work to resolve any PMS, and discuss the best times for intercourse to greatly enhance conception.

We also advise having your partner seek treatment as well. Acupuncture to relieve stress combined with supplements to boost sperm count, motility and mobility often greatly improves men’s reproductive health.

Assisted Reproductive Technology Support

Our Preparing for Conception program also assists and supports women working with Reproductive Endocrinologists. We do so by addressing underlying reproductive wellness concerns while supporting Assisted Reproductive Technology protocols.

We work closely with women undergoing Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) or Invitro Fertilization (IVF) protocols by using the proven Paulus Protocol for transfer support. This was a landmark study which examined pregnancy success rates in those undergoing Assisted Reproductive procedures. The study concluded that when utilized before and after either an IUI or IVF procedure, there is a pregnancy success rate of 42.5% in the acupuncture group versus 26.3% in the control group.

BeWell Pregnancy
One of the great advantages of acupuncture is that it’s quite safe and effective to use during pregnancy. We are here to support you during this exciting time and work in conjunction with your Obstetrician to provide a healthy foundation for you and your baby. During the first trimester, acupuncture protocols can help minimize morning sickness, constipation, heartburn, fatigue, back pain, and anxiety. In later pregnancy, assistance can be provided for hypertension, swollen ankles, breech presentations and labor/delivery preparation.
BeWell Woman
Mothers and career-focused women respond exceptionally well to Traditional Chinese Medicine. In this program, our primary focus is on preventive care and maintaining optimal wellness, and monitoring your monthly cycle. We also address the main concerns of working moms — stress, anxiety, and fatigue — while working to restore and maintain balance in your gynecological health. If you have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), ovarian cysts, fibroids, PMS/PMDD, or endometriosis acupuncture has a proven ability to treat these conditions. Other issues regarding menstrual cycle health including menstrual cramps, irregularity, hormonal headaches, or very heavy, light, or absent menstrual cycles can be supported by treatment.
BeWell Prime
Peri-menopausal and menopausal women respond wonderfully to Acupuncture and Chinese herbs. In most cases hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, insomnia, vaginal dryness, and urinary problems can be addressed with a series of treatments. In these instances, individualized herbal formulas are key. Care during this time of transition not only alleviates symptoms but honors a woman’s ability to tap into her innate wisdom.
BeWell Man
At 512Wellness, we work with men to address reproductive and urological health, which may include urinary issues, varicoceles, hernias, and hemorrhoids. If there are fertility concerns, we strongly recommend treatment to alleviate stress, a primary factor regarding libido and erectile dysfunctions. Key herbal formulas and amino acid supplementation help to correct any sperm abnormalities, which may include low motility, mobility, and overall count.
